Weatherheads band history
Weatherheads started as a recording project in January 1995. Dissatisfied with the results of home recording, band founder John Nelson set out to make an EP to be released on cassette recorded in a proper studio. Enlisting the help of long time friends Joe Niklas on bass and Ken Brooks on drums, the trio began rehersing to record eight songs. "I was going to have us cut some songs, pick the best ones and release a four or five song EP on cassette only. While we were rehersing our drummer Ken kept talking about how feasable it would be to put the songs out as a CD. I thought it was nuts and a little bit vain to put out our own CD. After all, didn’ t you have to be signed to record company to do that? Didn’ t you have to be a big band around town? The answer was no and no. As the rehersals went along I realised that we would need some help on guitar and whined out loud that my soloing abilities weren’ t going to cut it. Kens response was "that’ s easy, we’ ll get Bart". Bart who?"
